Rogers Cable's new N gateway combines a modem with a wireless router that uses wireless N technology.
The gateway allows customers to extend their wireless connection further, says Rogers, while also affording fewer signal quality issues. Aesthetically, it also results in a more seamless setup since both the modem and router are housed in one unit. Using wireless N technology, the gateway operates on Rogers' DOCSIS 3.0 network.
Complementing the device will be Rogers' 50 Mbps service, which is set to launch in mid-August. It will initially be available to customers within the greater Toronto area (GTA), then rolled out in other areas over the following months.
The first 50 eligible customers to sign up for this new, quick 50 Mbps service will receive the N gateway for free. These lucky 50 people will be randomly selected among those who enter at www.rogers.com/first50. Otherwise, the new N gateway will cost $199.95.
