Calgary, AB, September 20, 2006: Blockbuster Canada has announced that in Calgary, the retailer will now be offering disc repairs as a value-added service to its customers. Beginning October 2, damaged DVDs, CDs, and video game discs can be brought into any Calgary Blockbuster location, and be repaired within 24 hours for $3.99 per disc.
"Blockbuster is dedicated to home entertainment," commented Kimberly Clark, Vice President Marketing, Blockbuster Canada. "Providing a worry-free service that allows our customers to enjoy all of their entertainment choices is what this repair service will offer."
Customers simply fill out a disc repair envelope, insert the faulty disc, and hand it over to any customer service representative. They can then pick the disc up the next day.
Blockbuster says the cost of $3.99 per disc can represent, in many cases, a 75 per cent savings from replacing it.
Calgary is being used as a test market for this service, given its regional success. Blockbuster says it may expand the service throughout Canada in the future.
