WIND Mobile has added the BlackBerry Pearl 3G, RIM's smallest device to date, to its line up of mobile phone offerings. The device can be purchased outright for $320, and will operate on WIND's IP 3G+ network.
The BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100 (read our review of the device here) employs the typical Pearl features, like the SureType partial QWERTY keyboard, plus standard BlackBerry features, like the optical trackpad, BlackBerry Messenger, access to the BlackBerry App World, and full e-mail and Web browsing support. The smartphone also has dedicated media keys on top for controlling music playback.
The tiny, elongated device (it measures 4.25" x 1.96" x 0.52" and weighs just 93 grams), boasts a 360 x 400 display, 3.2 MP camera with zoom, flash, and video recording, built-in GPS, WiFi, and a microSD card slot (a 2 GB card is included.)
The phone, says WIND, will be compatible with the new BlackBerry 6.0 operating system in the coming months; it will come out of the box loaded with BlackBerry 5.0 software.
A promotion that will run through to September 15 will afford $20 off any WIND Mobile handset, thus dropping the price of the Pearl 3G down to $300 for the next 13 days.
