Amaya Foto, a division of Amplis Foto, has announced two additions to the Metz flash line. Both models provide wider coverage than their predecessors: 12mm compared to 18mm on the older models. They also have metal mounting shoes (except for the Sony-mount version)
The 50AF-1 midrange flash replaces the Metz 48AF-1. The new flash delivers more power (GN 50, up from 48, at 105mm focal length and ISO 100), and adds a servo mode that allows use of the flash with any camera or external flash. It can also be used as a receiver in any wireless TTL flash system. Canadian MSRP is $230, a substantial reduction from the $340 MSRP of the previous model.
The 58-AF2 (shown here) has a guide number of 58 (at 105mm focal length and ISO 100). Besides wider coverage and the metal shoe, it also adds a servo mode for wireless use with any camera or external flash. In a wireless TTL flash system, it can function in either remote or master mode. Canadian MSRP is $400, compared to $619 on the discontinued 58AF-1.
