On the heels of Rogers' announcement that the carrier will be selling the BlackBerry Torch 9800 starting September 24, Telus has confirmed that it, too, will offer the latest Research in Motion (RIM) smartphone as of that day.
While Rogers has confirmed a three-year contract price to be $199.99, however, Telus has not yet disclosed pricing. Chances are high that Telus will match that same price.
"Both business and consumer customers will get an incredible mobile experience from the new BlackBerry Torch smartphone," exclaims Brent Johnston, Vice President of Mobility Solutions at Telus. "Telus is pleased to bring the BlackBerry Torch to Canadians, which will allow them to easily stay connected, entertained and informed wherever they are while running on our blazing fast 3G+ network."
Other Canadian carriers, including WIND Mobile and Mobilicity, but most notably Bell Mobility, have remained mum about whether they'd be offering the phone, when, and at what price.
The Torch 9800 is RIM's first hybrid touch-screen and QWERTY keyboard device; and also the first to come with the new BlackBerry 6.0 operating system (OS) right out of the gate.
