Samsung Electronics Canada has announced that "due to unprecedented global demand," the Galaxy S III smartphone will now be available in Canada on June 27, as opposed to the original release date of June 20.
So far, more than nine million carrier pre-orders have been made, worldwide.
The company says that most retailers and carriers of the device are offering customers the ability to register online for product/release updates - some are taking pre-orders as well.
Samsung expects product shortages to be a "short-lived" situation, as the manufacturer is currently ramping up its production efforts.
Bell Mobility, Virgin Mobile, SaskTel, TELUS and Rogers Wireless, Videotron, WIND Mobile and Mobilicity will all carry the device.
The S III features a 4.8" HD Super AMOLED touch display and runs on a Snapdragon S4 Dual Core 1.5 GHz processor and the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. It'll have 16GB and 32GB internal memory options, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.9MB front-facing camera, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and Near Field Communications (NFC) capabilities.
