SOL Republic, a developer of in-ear and on-ear headphones, has launched its own eBay store. In conjunction with the opening, the company has partnered with 22-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps for an online charitable endeavour.
Phelps, who continuously dawned SOL products before competitions, has autographed 21 pairs of headphones in which he wore ahead of events, and will be auctioning them off through his eBay celebrity page. All proceeds will go to the Michael Phelps Foundation, an organization that "focuses on growing the sport of swimming and promoting healthy and active lives for children."
One of the headphone units being auctioned off includes the pair worn prior to Phelps' 4x200 Freestyle relay race at the London 2012 Olympic games - by medalling in that race Phelps became the most decorated Olympian of all-time.
The auction runs now through to September 14 at noon pacific time.
"Music has always been a big part of my life - it helps me focus and inspires me for every race," says Phelps. "I'm a big fan of SOL Republic headphones' sound and I like the colours and how you can change them up. I'm excited to partner with SOL Republic to offer the headphones I wore before every race exclusively on eBay to benefit my Foundation, which helps me to support the next generation of swimmers."
Additionally, SOL Republic has made the new Phelps-inspired Tracks HD Anthem headphones available for pre-order on eBay. They are priced at $149.99, with partial proceeds being given to the Michael Phelps Foundation.
These on-ear headphones have a pearl white and metallic dark blue design, with jewel-toned red accents. This product has V10 sound engines that the company says delivers deep bass, higher clarity and crisp vocals.
