D-Box Technologies will be incorporating its motion coding technologies with the theatre release of Resident Evil: Afterlife, allowing patrons to select cinemas to enjoy the film in available D-Box seating.
Once D-Box scans a movie frame-by-frame, the company's MFX motion coding system will cause the chairs to shake, shimmy, and rumble in sync with the on-screen action. Customers who pay an upgraded price to sit in one of the seats can adjust the intensity to their liking.
Resident Evil: Afterlife from Sony Pictures will be released in select theatres on September 10.
This marks the 19th film that Longueuil, QC-based D-Box has coded its technology into for theatre release; the company's technology is already incorporated into thousands of DVDs, for use with D-Box motion coding technology/seating in homes.
D-Box has already partnered with 29 theatres around the world to erect a row (or rows) of D-Box seating in certain theatres, available as VIP, reserved tickets. In Canada, D-Box seats can be found in the Queensway Cinemas in Etobicoke, ON; and the Cinema Boloeil in Beloeil, QC.
"The consistent support of movie studio giants like Sony speaks volumes about industry and consumer confidence in our immersive motion technology," says President and CEO of D-Box, Claude Mc Master. "...we are pleased to add an exciting, action-packed sci-fi thriller to our growing catalogue of D-Box Motion Code-supported films."
