With the latest initiative from Pronto, customers with compatible Philips Pronto control panels will be able to enjoy two-way control over Apple iTunes, Apple TV, and Apple Airport Express through the devices.
Called ProntoTunes, the application allows customers to access and control their media libraries, and scroll through selections by album, artists, genres, playlists, movies, TV shows, and more using the Pronto scroll wheel. Cover at is displayed on the screen for the currently-playing content. Using a SmartCache feature, such information will also be stored into memory so the customer doesn't have to wait for it to appear the next time the same content is accessed.
Created in partnership with the Australian developer ProntoProject.com, the ProntoTunes application can be downloaded to a compatible control panel by the installer, who then pairs the remote to the appropriate Apple device. Once done, the application will automatically discover other iTunes and Apple TV players on the same network. Apple TV is controlled via IP, not IR, explains the company, in order to ensure an immediate response time. A signal indicator on the control panel advises as to signal strength.
ProntoTunes also enables multi-zone control over Apple iTunes, Apple TV and Apple Airport Express; zones can be switched and turned on/off with a touch of the control panel. Custom installers can assign custom volume controls to each library and zone; and enable startup commands for when switching libraries (i.e. change amp input). The application also allows for adjusting settings like language, use of hard buttons, and advanced settings allowing audio control for multiple instances of Apple TV and Apple iTunes.
ProntoTunes is compatible with TSU9400, TSU9600 and TSU9800 control panels. Certified Pronto installers can download the module for $50 (with a valid Pronto serial number) at www.prontoprojects.com. Multiple licenses are also available.
