Marketnews is saddened to announce the passing of Dennis Fralick, a long-time industry member who was most recently working at The Power Centre, but spent several decades at King's Stereo in Thunder Bay, ON. He was 58.
Dennis passed away unexpectedly on August 5. He spent more than three decades in the consumer electronics industry, having spent much of that time with Muntz, which was previously King's Stereo. He joined The Power Centre in 1999, and has been there since.
He also served as a DJ in the area, working various events and fundraisers under the company Music by Dennis. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Make-a-Wish chapter in Thunder Bay.
"Dennis started at Thunder Bay Muntz just after I did in the mid ‘70s," comments David McCoy, National Sales Manager, Canada West for Speakercraft. "Over the years, we became friends. We had a group that helped with the Elks fundraisers, and anyone from Thunder Bay will remember the Friday/Saturday night ‘Boogies' that we put on. Dennis loved being the DJ (but I didn't love having to carry the Altec Voice of the theatres!) Pizza Delight, and the extremely fun yearly trips to to the bars and Apple River in Duluth or Minneapolis on the labour day weekend are some of my fond memories.
"Dennis never refused a request for help," he adds, "and always looked after his friends. Over time and distance, friendships can fade like old photos. But the memories remain clear and impactful. I never thought he'd had the influence on me that he did."
The funeral was held on Thursday, August 12 at St. Paul's Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dennis' memory to the Children's Wish Foundation; or sign the back of your drivers license and donate to the Trillium Society. Onine condolences can be made here, or at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca.
Dennis is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Cottrell) and brother Martin Fralick, who lives in Pickering, ON.
