The smc PENTAX-DA 35mm F2.4 AL interchangeable prime standard lens (its field of view mirrors the 50mm standard lenses of yore) has been designed exclusively for use with the firm's APS-C crop sensor digital SLRs.
A standard lens is said to offer a natural perspective similar to that of the naked eye (it helps if you take that literally, and close one eye).
The compact prime, it weighs just over a quarter pound (124 g) and measures 1.77" (45mm) in length, uses a hybrid aspherical optical element in its optics
It is treated with the PENTAX-original Ghostless Coating to minimize the adverse effects of flare and ghost images and PENTAX-original SP (Super Protect) Coating on the front element surface to repel dust, water and grease.
The minimum focusing distance is 11.8" (0.3 m).
The smc PENTAX-DA 35mm F2.4 AL will be available in Canada during October 2010.
