Mobilicity, one of Canada's newest wireless carriers, has enjoyed 100 days of operation in select cities in Canada, and confirms that its retail distribution has increased by 30% in that time.
With services up and running in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in Ontario, Mobilicity says it has added 40 new locations in just the last month along. (Services are set to launch in Calgary, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Edmonton later this year.)
Mobilicity says that there are now more than 300 spots to purchase the company's mobile phones and service plans. This includes both standalone Mobilicity stores, like the one where the company held its launch event at 1885 Kennedy Rd. in Scarborough, ON; as well as other retail outlets, like Value Mobile (which has four locations), GE Wireless, GSM Cellphones, Imomonet in the Splendid China Mall, and Star Wireless.
Three new standalone Mobilicity stores opened last month: 491A Dundas St. West (at Spadina Ave) in and 1394 Gerrard St. E. in downtown Toronto; and 1 Bartley Bull Parkway, Unit 25, in Brampton, ON.
"We're continuing to enhance our distribution to provide the most convenient customer experience around," says President and CEO, Dave Dobbin. "With our extensive and growing network of locations, Mobilicity customers can easily shop for phones, pay their bills, and receive customer support near their homes or workplaces."
Mobilicity's service, which covers urban areas (essentially the entire GTA), is targeted toward lower-income folks who, as Dobbin has often described, "live paycheque-to-paycheque," and/or typically remain within the city in which they live and work. The ability to purchase a phone outright and pay monthly without a contract or added fees will also appeal to new Canadian citizens who may not have a credit card, or be able to pass a credit check. Several international calling options will also appeal to immigrants who want to keep in touch with family back home. Naturally, Mobilicity has strategically chosen its store locations, as well as retail distribution partnerships, to best reach this target audience.
