Two weeks ago, Marketnews & here's how! held a social networking-centric giveaway that would award one lucky winner with a new JVC PICSIO GC-WP10 pocket camcorder/camera. The winner has finally been chosen through random draw to be Daniel Di Nardo of Etobicoke, ON.

To qualify for the random draw, which was held in partnership with JVC Canada, entrants had to become a fan of Marketnews Magazine and/or here's how! Magazine on Facebook by "liking" the publication; or follow us on Twitter at @christinep24 and/or @hereshowmag. The giveaway was open to all residents of Canada over the age of 18. The prize was a JVC PICSIO GC-WP10 ($250), a hybrid pocket camcorder/camera that's fully waterproof up to three metres.

Di Nardo, who works at Centre HiFi in Mississauga, ON, says he currently has a standard definition hard disk drive camcorder.

The new PICSIO, which will be available soon, can record high-definition footage at full 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and 30 frames-per-second (MPEG-4, AVC/H.264 format); and comes equipped with a 3" touch screen, plus features typically found in higher-end models, like image stabilization, face detection, and an HDMI output. The device can also capture 5 MP stills, as well as MP3 audio. Using pressure sensitivity, the camcorder also enables easy operation when wearing gloves. Footage is captured on an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card.

While the camcorder will officially be available at retail later this month, Di Nardo will become one of the first in Canada to have one.

"I think the camcorder doubling as a 5MP camera is a great feature," he comments, "as well as being small and compact, and being able to record in HD. Being waterproof should make for some fun pool or beach side shots!"
