Grace Digital Audio has announced three new wireless weatherproof speaker systems, the Rock Speaker, Schooner II, and Mini-Bullets II, for use by the pool or BBQ.
Signals are sent from the audio source (which can be an iPod, mobile phone, or any other device with a 3.5mm output) to receivers within the wireless speakers via Grace Digital's universal transmitter. Up to 10 accessory speakers can be deployed in each system.
Each speaker is said to meet IPX7 international weatherproofing standards for protection from rain, pool splashes, and spills.
The specified operating range is "over 150 feet," but as with any radio device, your mileage may vary
The compact (12.13" x 15.51" x 14.29") Rock Speaker has a 1" tweeter and 4" cone driver; and is powered by a built-in rechargeable 12V battery rated for seven hours of running time. There's also a 15V AC adapter (included).
The Schooner II, with built-in carrying handles, offers a similar battery power system and features an auto standby (after 15 minutes of no audio) function to save energy.
The Mini-Bullets II have a single 3" full range cone speaker augmented by "double bass boost" (DBB). Battery power comes via six AA standard (not included) or by connection with the supplied 9V AC adapter.
Each indoor/outdoor weatherproof speaker from Grace Digital comes with a universal wireless transmitter with a 3.5mm audio jack that is powered by 12V AC adapter (supplied) or four AA batteries (not included). There are controls for power, and a two-channel frequency selector.
Now shipping, Rock Speaker (US$149.99), Schooner II (US$129.99), and Mini-Bullets II (US$99.99) are all available at www.GraceDigitalAudio.com and various retailers throughout the U.S.
