Reports yesterday indicated that Google Inc. was planning on opening a retail store in Dublin, IRL, within the company's European headquarters. However, the company has shot down that story.
A spokesperson for the Internet giant issued a statement to Mashable that read, "We already have an online store selling things like Google t-shirts and pens. We have the option of a small space doing the same in our Dublin office, but we've not made any decisions. It's simply a planning application."
Google is working on expanding its facility in Ireland, and the company's planning application showed that there would be 1,323 square feet available in the building, which could be used as a store.
According to Mashable, it is standard planning protocol to have the option of putting store space into a new location, but that doesn't mean that said space has to be used as such.
The Dublin City Council approved Google's building plans last month.
