Gateway has debuted the new EC14D notebook, which can be considered more of a "netbook" due to its small 11.6" HD (1,366 x 768) Ultrabright LED-backlit widescreen display.
Weighing 3.55 lbs., the computer also incorporates an 8x Multi double-layer DVD drive (unfortunately, not Blu-ray) that can read both DVDs and CDs.
Using the six-cell battery, the EC14D affords up to six hours of continuous battery life, and meets Energy Star qualifications. It also boasts 802.11 b/g/N WiFi, a full-sized keyboard with multi-gesture touchpad, and a built-in Webcam and mic.
The notebook, which is trimmed in silver, is powered by an Intel Ultra Low Voltage Pentium Dual Core processor, and comes with Windows 7 Home Premium. It is equipped with a 320GB hard drive, a multi-in-1 media card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and S/PDIF, and 4GB of memory that can be upgraded to 8GB via two 4GB modules.
The Gateway EC14D01h will be available later this month starting at an MSRP of $579.99.

The config of this unit is ideal. Having been using a 10.1" with a 3 cell battery daily for a few months now is a bit frustrating and small but the price was right.. Ideally if this new Gateway's MSRP was sub $500. I'd jump on it the day of release !
