Future Shop is really showing its commitment to the installation business, first with the launch of its ConnectPro installation service last summer, and now with the addition of online remote support.
As of today, Future Shop will now offer online support through ConnectPro that will allow customers to call in and have a trained technician diagnose computer-related issues remotely. This can include everything from removing viruses and spyware, to troubleshooting program installation, or just simple training on new software, like the just-released Windows 7.
To activate online support, a customer need only visit support.connectpro.ca, then select the appropriate remote service option, or get guidance from a live support person. Once selected, the live support person will explain the service and request permission to access control of the customer's computer. Once the issue has been resolved, the procedure is reviewed and, if the customer is happy, the online support staff disconnects.
The service is available 24/7, and starts at $49.99; a pretty hefty price to pay for small fixes, but potentially worth it for those who can't wait until their whiz-kid nephew comes over to have an issue resolved. Note, however, that remote service obviously requires access to the Internet, which means ConnectPro cannot solve Internet connectivity issues by remotely tapping into your PC. The remote service is backed by a 30-day guarantee.
