The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has confirmed that the FitnessTech TechZone will be expanded by 30% at the 2014 International CES. In all, it'll take up 11,500 square feet and showcase more than 75 companies.
Companies taking a spot within FitnessTech, which will be located in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center, include Fitbit, GeoPalz, Jaybird, Looxcie, Polar and Wahoo Fitness.
According to the CEA's semi-annual report, the fitness technology market is expected to grow nearly 25% next year.
"With improvements in sensor technology, devices can monitor everything from steps taken to stairs climbed, which allows consumers to better monitor their daily activity and create smarter goals," says Karen Chupka, Senior Vice President, International CES and Corporate Business Strategy, CEA. "There's no denying that fitness has gone high tech and that CES is the place to experience the latest consumer health tech advances."
Also at the show will be a full-day FitnessTech conference, set to take place on Tuesday, January 7. Topics of discussion will include: a battle of the bands (fitness bands); the quantified generation; wearable tech; and how fitness devices will get even smarter.
