DivX has released a new version of its software that makes it easy to view, convert, and transfer videos on a PC, as well as other products.

Called DivX Plus, the new software suite consists of four products: the DivX Plus Player, Web Player, Codec Pack, and Plus Converter. New with the player is the DivX To Go feature which simplifies the process of transferring video from a computer to a DivX-enabled device, which now includes upwards of 250 million products, from DVD players to Blu-ray players, flat-panel TVs, gaming consoles, and mobile phones.

Videos can be played back through the player in a wide variety of formats, from the DivZ codec's, to MKV/H.264 and Windows Media Player. Videos can also be played back in high-definition.

"DivX Plus Software makes the HD video experience intuitive to users with all levels of expertise," says Guto Araujo, Vice President and General Manager, Software and Services, DivX, Inc. "To the experienced user, it offers a range of streaming, converting, and web video publishing tools. Through uncluttered and easy-to-use playback screens, the software also lets all users simply enjoy full screen DivX Plus HD videos even on lower powered computers such as netbooks."

The software, which is available as a free download and compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP, boasts a new user interface as well that the company says is less cluttered.
