The Montreal International Game Summit (MIGS), described as a "high-level, specialized," professional video gaming show, has announced its keynote speaker lineup for the 2010 event, which will take place November 8 and 9.
There will be two main speakers: Ed Fries, co-founder of the Xbox project, will discuss "beauty, constraints and the Atari 2600"; while Ron Carmel, Co-Founder of 2DBOY, will examine the steps involved in developing an independent video game, as well as offer his predictions on the future of the industry.
Also lined up are persons who can speak to each of five main segments in video gaming. On the business end will be David Edery, Director of Fuzbi, who will explore the life cycle of online distribution platforms, key challenges involved, and how companies can develop practical solutions to succeed in these growing markets. Alex Alvarez, CEO, Gnomon School of Design, will speak on art, and the importance of continuing education. The design advice will come from Scott Jon Siegel, Game Designer at Playdom. He will discuss casual video game developer, and how developers can use innovation to gain a competitive edge. On production will be Tom Wujec, Fellow, Autodesk, who will offer ways to solve many of today's visual challenges and issues. Finally, a Software Developer from Harmonix Music Systems, Ryan Challinor, will speak to the technology-related aspects of gaming. He will talk to one of the growing trends: games that do not require conventional controllers. He'll also preview some of Harmonix's latest prototype creations.
The MIGS, which was created in 2004, will be held at the Hilton Bonaventure Hotel in Montreal, QC this year. Industry attendees can register online before September 25 to receive a 30% discount on tickets.
