At the PMA (Photo Marketing Association) International Convention and Tradeshow in Annaheim, CA, Casio is introducing two new compact digital cameras in its Exilim line. The EX-S7 and EX-S35 both feature 12.1MP resolution, 3x zoom lens, face-detection autofocus, 27 Best Shot modes that automate camera settings for different subject types, and special modes for capturing and uploading content to YouTube and Facebook.
Available in black, silver, blue, gold and purple finishes, the EX-S7 (shown here) is .78" deep at its thinnest point. In addition to 12.1MP stills, it can shoot HD video at up to 1280x720-pixel (720p) resolution. The EX-S7 incorporates Casio's Dynamic Photo features, which lets photographers paste multiple still photos of a moving subject into a different background, and create a movie file that can be viewed on the camera's screen, on the computer or shared on the Internet. MSPR is $169.99.
Available in black, sliver, blue, pink and purple finishes, the EX-S35 is .8" deep at its thinnest point. Features include widescreen movie mode and an easy Mode with a simplified menu screen. MSPR is $139.99.
Both cameras employ Exilim Engine 5.0 image processing, which runs simultaneously on a standard CPU and a high-speed dedicated image CPU. According to Casio, the new processing is 30% faster than Casio's previous Exilim Engine 4.0, and also improves colour and high-ISO noise performance. The EX-S7 and EX-S35 will be available in Canada in late March.
