While gearing up for its Monday press event at CES, Samsung pre-announced a new camera in its 2View series, the DV300F, featuring Dual LCD technology and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The camera incorporates a 1.5-inch front LCD screen, allowing image composition from either behind the camera or in front using the self-timer. The front display can also
show Child Mode animations, to hold kids' attention.
The DV300F allows users to upload photos directly to Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or YouTube, and to send them by e-mail. Images can also be either saved to a microSD card, or uploaded cloud storage services including Samsung's AllShare Play and Microsoft's SkyDrive.
Numerous creative software features are built-in. For example, the Picture-in-Picture tool allows insertion of one image into another. Split Shot can merge up to three images.
Funny Face lets the user add "goofy grins," "comical noses" or "crazy eyes" to portraits. Motion Photo can keep adjacent figures frozen around a moving subject, for dramatic effect.
The DV300F captures images at 16 megapixels, with optical zoom ranging from 25mm wide-angle to 125mm telephoto (135 equivalent). The camera will be available in "shimmering metallic colours," including "mock black," silver, navy and red.
Prices and Canadian availability were not included in the pre-CES announcement.
