Budweiser is helping fans light-en up during hockey season by releasing its app-controlled Budweiser Red Light. This product, which has a metal frame, bright bulb and stands 12" tall, will be available on February 3 via Budweiser.ca for $149.
When this product is connected to its corresponding Apple and Android app (Budweiser Red Lights App, which goes live Sunday and starts working for Monday games) via WiFi, it can be programmed to follow teams from a multiple number of cities. When one of these teams scores, the light goes off and the familiar hockey light horn blares. This also occurs five minutes before game time, in order to remind a person when his team is about to hit the ice.
The wall-mountable Red Light has a battery life of two years and a volume switch that allows the user to silent the light in order to avoid being woken up if his team scores late into the night. Also, the light will still go off even if one's TV or phone is powered down.
Budweiser notes that this product is not an official sponsor of the National Hockey League (NHL), and that this campaign is not licensed by, sponsored by, or otherwise associated with the NHL.
