Boston Acoustics Adds Soundbar/Subwoofer Combo

Boston Acoustics' new TVee Model 20 Soundbar and Wireless Subwoofer System lets users dramatically improve TV sound without cluttering up their living spaces with components. Priced t $400, the TVee Model 20 combines a slim soundbar that can be placed above or below a flat panel TV with a matching wireless subwoofer. The soundbar can be mounted on the wall, or placed on a flat surface like a cabinet or shelf, and will match TVs measuring 32" and greater.

Finished in black, the soundbar connects to the TV's analog-audio outputs. It sends bass audio signals wirelessly to the subwoofer, which can be placed anywhere in the room, even out of sight The TVee 20 also features Boston's remote Learning Function, which learns the signal coming from a user's existing remote, thereby controlling the TVee's volume and mute commands without the need for an additional remote.

The soundbar employs two full-range drivers, which feature Boston Acoustics' "HHRT" (Hyperbolic High Rigidity Transducer) driver technology. According to the company, the light and rigid cone uses a new and highly complex shape to reduce distortion, widen the "sweet spot," and enhance dynamic performance. The wireless subwoofer employs a 6" downward-firing bass driver. Total system power is 100 watts (RMS).

The TVee Model 20 will be available at the end of March.

It's great to see Boston Acoustics offering a nice, basic, easy to use system like this for the average TV viewer. It's not digital, it's not surround or even virtual surround, but just better TV sound with sub. The name TVee seems a little silly, though.
