Spring is fast approaching, and manufacturers and quickly coming out with 3D-ready products in preparation of a big launch. Acer is the latest to launch a 23.6" display that can play back full HD images when combined with NVIDIA 3D Vision active shutter glasses.
Using the glasses and a companion wireless USB transmitter, owners can enjoy compatible PC games in all their 3D glory, watch 3D Blu-ray movies (once they become available), and enjoy other 3D content, like still images or online games. According to Acer, the glasses are lightweight, and can be worn over regular eyeglasses if needed. They afford up to 40 hours of 3D viewing on a single charge.
The GD235HZ boasts 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 80,000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, and 2ms response time. Acer's Adaptive Contrast Management (ACM) allows users to adjust images frame by frame to enhance detail and gradation, while also using less power.
Additional features include an eColor Management on-screen interface that allows users to tweak brightness, saturation and contrast; an Empowering Key for switching between viewing scenarios; and an eDisplay Management function for enhancing colour and rotating the display.
The monitor comes equipped with an HDMI (with HDCP) port, DVI, and VGA. It affords tilt adjustment (170-degree/160-degree viewing angles), and a VESA 100mm wall mount.
The Acer GD235HZ will be available for an MSRP of $449; and the NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit will sell for $249.
