Samtack, a computer and consumer electronics distribution company, is celebrating its 20th year in business by doubling its expanding its Markham, ON-based facility to 93,000 square-feet.

Samtack was founded by Sam Chiu in 1989, who was originally looking to sell graphics cards and other related items to retailers. Today, the distribution company has more than 5,000 partners and 100+ employees.

The company does business in various countries around the world, and offers everything from PCs to peripherals and consumer electronics through partnerships with manufacturers like LG, Seagate, and Nvidia. Samtack expanded into the U.S. in 1990, and shortly thereafter, erected a manufacturing facility in Hong Kong, and expanded to Europe and Asia Pacific.

"We grew our business, where the market's shrinking," says Chiu, who notes that Samtack works with mass merchandisers like Wal-Mart and Best Buy in addition to the traditional VARs and computer resellers.

Going forward, Samtack is looking forward to some burgeoning product categories, like external storage, graphics cards, and power-saving products like LED lighting, cables, and sensor motion lighting.

Chiu reports that Samtack generates more than $250 million in revenue annually.

"We've had a fantastic year," Chiu enthuses.
