After a grueling Press Day (stay tuned for a detailed report of the major announcements made) we head to a mini press show to check out the latest and greatest gadgets. Here is an outline of some of the most interesting items we came across:
TuneBug Shake Bluetooth Surround Sound for Helmets: Helmets with wireless music playback built in aren't new, but the TuneBug promises to immerse cyclists or skateboarders with "surround sound" as they enjoy their sport. The triangular-shaped device mounts atop any helmet either via a strap or Gecko Mount, which consists of three, spider-like Velcro pieces that adhere to the top of the helmet, than secure the Shake. It offers 5-hours of battery life and will sell for US$120. Aside from the benefits of not having to wear an earpiece under the helmet, the thumpy base could very well have the ability to provide soothing relief for a headache.
Energizer Energi To Go iPhone Case/Charger: It's a simple-looking, hard case shell for the iPhone, but what sets this model apart is a dock connector at the bottom that allows it to double as an on-the-go charger. It reportedly doubles the talk time of the Apple device. The US$49 charger itself takes about three hours to recharge via mini USB connection to a computer. Another initiative worth mentioning from Energizer is the company's program that affords "tips for life" to customers who purchase one of the Energi To Go charging kits. For example, the XP2000 ($29.99) comes with six tips for the most popular phone types, including BlackBerry (miniUSB), iPhone, and Nokia. If your phone's tip is not in there, just dial a 1-800 number and they'll send it to you for free. Going forward, the company will give you two new tips per year for the life of the product: ideal for those who tend to upgrade handsets frequently.
